- The takeaway from this episode is … realizing the cards you were dealt contain your best odds for achieving what you came here to do.
- Here’s what this will do for you … align your cards with your natural-born gifts and talents. This is your path.
- Here’s what I want you to do with it … make the best of the cards you were dealt by applying your gifts and talents to everything you do.
People reason that others get a better hand of cards to play in life.
Some people are born into rich families who never seem to struggle, while others are born into poverty and struggle their entire lives. Let’s look at the cards you were dealt. Are there any good hands or bad hands? … no, there’s only the cards you were dealt. It’s what you do with them that makes the difference.
Many people who are given good hands to play don’t take advantage of them, they squander their natural talents and gifts and seem to just coast through life living off the spoils of what the people before them accomplished because of how they played their cards. These entitled people don’t have an appreciation for the strategy of playing the game of life.
Others are dealt weak cards and turn them into a winning hand. How is that possible? Were they just lucky? Just like in a card game, when one person is holding two pairs of high cards and another person is holding a low hand with no pairs – ends up winning with a straight.
At first, the person looks at their weak hand of cards and wonders how they are going to make anything from it? Since you can only play what you have been dealt, you can’t worry about the cards. You must create a strategy to play the cards you were dealt.
Here’s some advice – don’t let people see your cards. People will peek over your shoulder, or strain to get a look at your cards or some kind of signal about what you are holding, but that’s where you must remain steady and keep your cards to yourself.
Always have an ace in the hole, that is, have a plan “B.”
What if you do end up winning the pot with what was looking like a weak hand? It happens all the time. So, don’t agonize over your cards by blaming the cards you were dealt, or take it personally if you don’t win. It’s in doing the best you can with the cards you were dealt that’s important.
Some people look at their cards and bluff their way through life and some even get away with it. They use intimidation to fool everybody else to lose faith in their cards, give up, and fold.
If you do the best you can with what you have you will never be a loser. You will be someone who had enough courage and focus to play the cards you were given and be grateful. These are the kinds of people who often get new cards along life’s path. It’s only because they learned to appreciate what they had and did the best with them that they could at the time. If you keep this in mind you will not only become a better card player, you will live a more fulfilling life.
Not everyone has what appears to be a good hand but still wins the pot. Willingly play the cards you were dealt because that’s how you will win at life.
CALL TO ACTION:
First, assess the cards you were dealt, good or bad.
Next, describe the natural gifts and talents you possess.
Now, connect the cards to your gifts and talents to create a winning strategy for your life. Write this all down so you can see it from the outside looking in, with clarity.
HOW IT WORKS: What happens when you come in with a hard hand to play? … you play them! The odds were against you, but your natural-born gifts and talents would be your ace in the hole. Your plan “B” would be the strategy that you use to change the odds in your favor.
However, as soon as you focus on someone else’s cards you lose your focus – forgetting who you are and why you are here. Your only hope for a better life is to remain focused on your cards. Trust in the wisdom of those cards you were dealt because they were carefully selected by you and your Guides as you pre-planned this life together.
Your gifts and talents will give you the edge when playing those cards. Only you will know what that is. Hint … it will be in how you play your cards that you will discover your own unique method – your strategy for life. ~ Linda Deir
