“Do you feel like you are not progressing quickly enough on your spiritual path to consciousness and awakening?
When you look at the path, in the beginning, you see a long road or a long journey ahead of you and you think to yourself, “Once I get to the end of the road I’ll be enlightened.”
What really happens, is you are becoming more conscious as soon as you take the first step. It’s like the saying goes, “The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.” That applies in this case. Each day on your spiritual journey you take a few more steps toward consciousness. However, most people don’t feel like they’re any different or a more spiritual person than the day before, or last week, or even last year.
Why don’t people see themselves progressing on their path to consciousness and awakening?
This has to do with how you are measuring yourself and your progress. When you start, what do you expect to happen right away, or in a week, a month, or in a year? Do you have a picture in your mind of what this different person is supposed to look and be like? How will this person be different? Are they happier, more centered, or less judgmental? Is the ego still in the way of your decision making? If you don’t feel different as you move along your path it’s because you are not conscious about where you’ve been, which prevents you from seeing the changes and how you are becoming more conscious.
Being conscious is not something that just shows up someday in the future. It’s a process tied to a lifestyle of self-discovery and self-realization. How do you know when one of these important self-realized moments are going to occur? You don’t know in advance only when you have that aha moment sometime in the future.
Determining how quickly you are becoming conscious will not come about from focusing on becoming conscious.
Instead, the first thing you will notice is that becoming conscious is a by-product of something you did to become more self-realized. When this happens, you will start to feel calmer, less nervous, and less anxious about the future. You are not “changing” you are “becoming.” It’s not like you are changing your clothes where one day you wear black clothes and the next day you wear white. The continuous change makes you feel many things. Not all these changes will feel comfortable, in fact, some will make you feel uneasy, and make you feel like you are losing touch with the people around you. This is a certain indicator that you are “becoming” a different person. You are the one who is different, not them. You are becoming more conscious.
People who are not becoming more conscious are afraid of the change and maybe even you. They retreat into themselves. They only concern themselves with themselves and maybe a few people who are always around them. Outside of that, they are isolated by choice. If they continue this pattern of isolation they will become totally defeated in their quest to become conscious. This is because they are working against the natural laws of the universe. Everything is one, everything is connected, and they have chosen to isolate and disconnect themselves from everything.
People will see great progress once they give up the selfishness and begin to share themselves just as they are. They will feel one with everything in the world. Once you do this you accelerate your journey and start seeing yourself as part of the entirety of the world and the universe and not a separate spirit here on your own.”
- One moment you feel you are connected and on your path. The next moment you feel separate and alone.
- The moment you isolate yourself the less conscious and effective you become.
- It’s only when you realize you must interface with everyone and everything with love that you will progress into consciousness.
How It Works: Consciousness awakening happens in those self-realized moments. You do something, you learn something, you realize something, you have that aha moment, and you become conscious. In an instant, you become more than you were before. That’s the step-by-step process of becoming self-realized and your journey to consciousness. These continuous sparks of consciousness are what guide you to your purpose in this lifetime. It produces your own brand, your own method, and what people seek you out for. It’s not something you can chase, it’s something you continue to become as you become more conscious. ~ Linda Deir
